Kylie and Shane met at work 14 years ago and have been together for over six years. They have a beautiful baby and love their sausage dogs. They live for the beach and enjoy family life together.
The proposal:
Kylie says “We went away for the weekend, but I was so tired that I went to bed early. We came home the next day and we went for a drive to the beach. We were chatting about our relationship and Shane said, “Do you see yourself with me forever?” I said “Yes, I want to be like those old people over there with the walking frames.” He said “Well, I better give you this” and pulled out a ring!”
The ring:
Shane was unsure what Kylie wanted in an engagement ring, so he proposed with a dress ring and then they designed Kylie’s dream ring together, with the help of the SCJ team.
The wedding:
Kylie and Shane had a barefoot beach wedding at Shoal Bay beach, with their dog ‘Crumpet’ as ring bearer. Their reception at Murray’s Brewery followed. They had no seating plans – just a very relaxed event, with fairy lights, amazing music from their friend and an awesome DJ as well. They had a tower of Doughheads donuts as the wedding cake, but Kylie forgot the wedding knife so they just ate it ‘Lady and The Tramp’ style. Most of the guests said it was the most relaxed and fun wedding they had been to in a long time.
The couple’s advice to anyone getting engaged:
Kylie says “It’s your wedding, and don’t do anything you don’t want to do. If you wouldn’t pay for that person at a restaurant then don’t invite them to your wedding. No one will notice any mistakes at the end of the day. Have fun and the only person at the end of the day that matters is the person meeting you at the end of the aisle cause that’s why your there.” Shane says, “Don’t be a stinge with the ring.”
Such great advice, and we wish Kylie and Shane all the best!
